Edward Freer Hills, (1912–1981) at the age of 39 committed himself to approach the issue of textual criticism from the “logic of faith”. He was led to this view from a study of Dean Burgon’s work. A great scholar, Dr. Hills earned degrees from Yale, Westminster Theological Seminary, Columbia, and Harvard. He writes:
“The King James Version ought to be regarded not merely as a translation of the Textus Receptus but also as an independent variety of the Textus Receptus.”
